Make Mother's Day Buzz!Last modified: 10 March 2010
Whether you mum loves nature, gardening or just likes to potter around outdoors, here’s a truly ‘wild’ idea for a ‘Mothers day’ gift! How about treating her to a ticket for a special wildlife gardening event this month at our Leighton Moss nature reserve, in Silverdale? An evening meal and talk ‘Make your Garden Good for Wildlife’ is being held on Tuesday 16 March. The evening begins with a two course home-cooked meal at 7 pm. Then Jennifer Lauruol, an experienced garden designer and Director of ‘Carpe Diem Gardens’ will provide lots of tips about how to get your garden full of wildlife during an illustrated talk until 9.30 pm. The cost is £16 (or if either of you are RSPB members then it’s only £14). If you think she might like to produce her own wildlife garden design, then on Saturday 27 March Jennifer will be running a new ‘Design Your Own Wildlife Garden’ workshop. All materials and lunch will be provided with the cost £25 (or RSPB Members £20). Booking and payment in advance is essential for both these events; just call us in the visitor centre on 01524 701601. Allison Davidson, trainee visitor officer at Leighton Moss said “This as an ideal fun gift for that special lady on Mothering Sunday and benefits wildlife looking for a happy home too”. Allison continues, “Why not have a day out on Mother’s Day at Leighton Moss, which is bursting into life with the sounds of spring. You can also get some tasty treats for the visitors to your garden in the shop and refuel with a warm cuppa in the café. As a special Mothers Day treat, Mums can have a free strawberry shortcake with a meal too!” What can I do?From scrub bashing to guided walks, the RSPB run events all around the UK |
