Water is essential for life, and managing our impact upon this vital resource is key not only to our future, but also to that of our wetlands and their wildlife. For these reasons, we get involved with a vast range of proposals and plans associated with water management.

Magheramorne proposed eco-village

We are excited to hear about development proposals for an eco-village at the former works and quarry at Magheramorne, which have lain vacant since 2002.

Trory Bay, Lower Lough Erne

Trory Bay in Lower Lough Erne (LLE), Fermanagh is one of the few remaining bays that remain relatively free from any form of development. Without any nature conservation protection for LLE it is under continuous development pressure.

The Lyth Valley

The Environment Agency's decision to turn off some of the pumps in the Lyth Valley could provide real opportunities for enhancing wetland habitat restoration.

Isle of Axholme Flood Risk Management Strategy

The strategy will determine how flooding and water resources are managed for the next 100 years. We are disappointed that the Environment Agency (EA) has chosen an option which will not deliver the environmental benefits we were hoping for. We are now looking for ways to work more closely with EA and local land managers to see if there are other ways to achieve these benefits.
