Scotland

Over the past two years, the RSPB has established a wide-ranging partnership of 18 Scottish organisations to raise awareness of children's decreasing contact with the real world.
The Real World Learning Partnership has been working with the Scottish Government and Parliament to see how this decline in outdoor learning can be reversed.
The RSPB also has been working with Scottish Government and others on the place that sustainable development education should have in the new Scottish school curriculum and in the wider work of schools. An understanding of the importance of biodiversity and the environment, as part of sustainable development, has now been recognised as one of the key aims of school education.
The RSPB will continue to play its part in championing the role of first hand experience in learning about the importance of the environment, and in bringing greater understanding of biodiversity and sustainable development to all pupils in Scotland's schools.
