Re-establishing stinking hawk's-beard
Stinking hawk’s-beard, Crepis foetida, which gives off a distinctive smell when touched, is a priority species within the UK’s Biodiversity Action Plan. Last known from Dungeness, Kent, it went extinct in the UK in the 1980s. Since then, English Nature, the RSPB and Royal Holloway College have made numerous attempts to re-establish it, using the offspring of seed collected from the last plants. |
