The Phoenix Forum

The Phoenix Forum is made up of 10 democratically elected teenage Phoenix members.

The Forum meets four times a year to help decide what should be in Wingbeat, where the conference should take place and its theme, plus any other matters to do with the Phoenix membership – including Phoenix on the internet.

Meet the current Forum:

Alexandra Tarbun from Colchester:

'When you enjoy something, like watching wildlife, there's nothing better than sharing it with other people your age.'

Alexander Tarburn

Cai Wilshaw from Cardiff:

'We all have our ways of helping. The Phoenix Forum is my way of representing people like me and helping a cause I feel passionate about; wildlife.'

Cai Wilshaw

Catherine Kyle from Rayleigh

'There's nothing quite as relaxing as watching wildlife'

Catherine Kyle

Ceri Fowler from Llangollen:

'The variety of experiences which can enhance the way that you think; the simplicity of only having to look out the window; the chance to make a difference. That is what birdwatching and RSPB Phoenix mean to me. The only advice I can offer is, get involved!'

Ceri Fowler

Holly Rowe from Crewe:

'The Phoenix Forum gives young people a voice that is heard but also listened to, so I only hope that the ten of us represent the views of all of you! The RSPB offers loads of opportunities that you will gain a huge amount from if you get involved in some way.'

Holly Rowe

Jack Common from Nottingham:

'Caring for and watching wildlife are among the most rewarding things you can do, and sharing your ideas, feelings and experiences with other people is simply fantastic.'

Jack Common

Susan Markham from Chester:

'I value our environment and understand it is important to conserve it. Being in the Forum enables me to be a voice for young people and also to help the environment and animals'.

Susan Markham

Robert Fraser-Binns from Leyburn:

'Being part of the RSPB Phoenix Forum enables young people to have a voice in the world of conservation and wildlife protection. The Forum is a great addition to the work that the RSPB does and will continue to do.'

Robert Fraser-Binns

Rachael Treharne from Lewes:

'RSPB Phoenix and the Forum are great opportunities to demonstrate that teenagers genuinely care about wildlife and the environment, and allow us to get our voices heard effectively. They also help young people with a passion for nature to gain a greater understanding of a wide range of issues and to meet others with similar feelings at fantastic conferences. I am really happy to be part of it!'

Rachael Treharne

Tom Hamilton from Eaton Bishop:

'If you love wildlife and care about climate change read Wingbeat!'
