Suffolk coast

A wealth of wildlife, from butterflies to birds to deer

There's a wealth of wildlife to be seen on the beautiful Suffolk coast, from tiny butterflies to majestic red deer, towering oaks to swaying reeds, and elegant avocets to mysterious nightjars.

Minsmere is our flagship nature reserve, offering a variety of countryside walks and birdwatching hides, a busy programme of events and top class facilities including a shop and tearoom. It's a great place for families and beginners to discover nature, and for experienced birdwatchers to spot one of our many rare visitors.

For a quieter, wilder experience, why not visit one of the RSPB's oldest nature reserves at North Warren, or the little-known wildlife hotspots at Boyton Marshes or Dingle Marshes?

Havergate Island offers a truly unique experience, with access only via RSPB boat to Suffolk's only island, while at Snape we are creating an exciting new wetland to attract bitterns, kingfishers and otters.

Whatever your interest, we have something to suit you.
