How to get here

By bus

Buses stop at Evie, 2 miles (3.2 km) to the east of the reserve and also in Dounby, 3 miles (4.8 km) to the west of the reserve.

By road

The main section of the reserve is west of Evie and the A966. Durkadale is west of the Birsay Moors and extends to the southern shore of the Loch of Hundland. The B9057 (Hillside Road) between Evie and Dounby cuts right through the reserve. The Burgar Hill hide (grid ref: HY344257), can be accessed by turning west up the sign posted, rough track which leaves the A966 1 mile (1.6 km) north of Evie at grid ref. HY357265.

Other ways to get to the reserve

For ferry information to Orkney contact VisitOrkney at the Tourist Information Office at West Castle Street, Kirkwall, KW15 1GU. Tel: 01856 872856. The Burgar Hill hide (grid ref: HY344257) can be accessed by foot by turning west up the signposted track which leaves the A966 1 mile (1.6 km) north of Evie at grid ref. HY357265.
