Campfield Marsh is one of the best places for wildlife in the UK.

Top things to do in Spring

  1. Look and listen for warblers along the hedgerows
  2. Keep an eye out for whimbrels and other passage waders from the hide
  3. Watch nesting lapwings and curlews displaying over the wetlands

Top things to do in Summer

  1. Follow the boardwalk across the peatbog to see dragonflies
  2. Enjoy the sight and smell of gorse in full flower
  3. Have a picnic and enjoy panoramic views of the Solway Plain

Top things to do in Autumn

  1. Look for tree sparrows, linnets, reed buntings and other seedeeating farmland birds
  2. Visit the high tide wader roosts on the saltmarsh
  3. Look for greenshanks and other passage waders from the hide

Top things to do in Winter

  1. Search the farmland for pink-footed and barnacle geese
  2. From the hide at dusk, look for hen harriers and whooper swans coming to roost
  3. Watch out for for teals, wigeons, pintails and shovelers on the flooded fields
