Our star species are some of the most interesting birds you may see on your visit to the reserve.
Buzzards can be seen circling overhead throughout the year. Visit in summer to see the young birds joining the adults in the air to perfect their flying technique.
Look along the rocky stream for dippers' weird and wonderful behaviour. As their name suggests, they plunge underwater looking for insect food and fish fry before bobbing to the surface like a cork.
Grey wagtails can be seen along the Lower Clydach River as they hunt small insects at the water's edge. Listen for their sharp calls and watch out for their tails wagging up and down.
You can see ravens' plummeting display flights from late winter, through the spring and hear their gruff, ringing 'kronk' calls throughout the year here.
Red kites are very nearly unmistakable - check the long, forked tail and graceful, lazy, gliding flight. You may also hear their plaintive 'peee-oo' calls.
