There's nature reserves and then there's Old Moor. The staff are always very friendly and helpful a pleasure to speak to. I have visited a lot of reserves but none have the diversity of birds Old Moor has. The walkways are easy and level, the hides are perfectly located and as I do a lot of photography, the pictures are fantastic unlike some reserves where everything is too far away. The countryside is breathtaking and every time I go I see something new - what more can anyone ask for?

After many attempts to visit Old Moor I finally made it. Totally brilliant. I can't remember the last time I had a 50 species day. I didn't even see the American golden plover, but so what. Great scones in the cafe as well. Next visit Christmas, can't wait.

My family went along for a visit today and found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. We saw such brilliant birds from its many hides! It also has a brilliant cafe, yum yum!

I have a complaint. Old Moor is too far from my home in Cornwall - I can't get there often enough! What a superb site (& nice friendly people as well)

The facilities at Old Moor were first class it is a nature reserve of the highest quality the cafe and meal was superb the shop was excellent the facility was clean and tidy and the star of the show the birds the sky was teaming with them well worth a 160 mile round trip as arnie would say i will be back....next month

We had a brilliant time. We watched a kingfisher for over 40 minutes and he caught and ate a fish right in front of us. We left before he did as the centre was closing. Bird experience of a lifetime.

SUPERB!! My first visit and I'm hooked. I am a novice bird photographer and there's everything you could possibly want to photograph. It really is an excellent day out and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in wildlife.

Top marks to Old Moor! We greatly enjoyed the invertebrate life as much as the birds, with several species of bee, butterfly, dragonfly, damselfly and many more taking advantage of the superbly managed habitat. I also saw two cuckoos in flight, which brought back memories of my springs and summers growing up near Barnsley. The hides and views of the lakes match anything other reserves have to offer. A great way to spend a relaxing and very enjoyable day- thank you to everyone at RSPB Old Moor.

Old Moor is a lovely haven for bird and nature lovers in the midst of this old mining area. The centre has been developed with great taste and sensitivity to the environment. The cafe offers wonderful home cooked food and lovely views of the reserve and the birds from the terrace. Easily accessible from major road networks in the area, Old Moor is well worth a visit. Thanks for a lovely day out.

It was really worth the visit to Old Moor, easy to get to, lovely walks and the hides have really nice views, we could have sat there for hours! Our 7 and 5 year old girls were really pleased with the free activity backpacks that allowed them free use of binoculars and fun activities, and they loved the playground. Nice cafe too. We are already planning our next visit!

A magical place with so much to see. The hides are excellent and allow views of such a good variety of birds. The butterflies and dragonflies were wonderful to see in such numbers too. Finally, the staff were friendly and helpful. I am waiting to come again.

WE ALL LOVED IT! I couldn't recommend a better trip out for anyone who loves wildlife. It really was a day to remember!
