Top things to do in Spring

  1. Look for waders and terns passing through on migration
  2. Listen out for the sumptuous song of skylarks above the marsh
  3. Listen for natterjack toads calling in the evening

Top things to do in Summer

  1. Watch terns make a splash whilst fishing for food
  2. Spend some time examining unusual plants in the sand dunes
  3. Look towards the horizon for seabirds such as gannets and Manx shearwaters

Top things to do in Autumn

  1. Look out for passage waders - such as curlew sandpipers - which might drop in on their way south
  2. Watch weather reports as strong north-westerly winds push normally elusive Leach's petrels towards land
  3. Keep your eyes open for the first pintails and wigeons

Top things to do in Winter

  1. Arrive a few hours before high tide to watch the massive wader roost assemble
  2. Scan the marsh for hunting birds of prey
  3. Take a look at the large numbers of wildfowl, including small numbers of brent geese
