Viewing points
The visitor centre overlooks the developing reedbed habitat. Three hides (two with 360-degree views) and numerous benches overlook the reedbed, freshwater scrapes, wet grassland and saltmarsh.
Nature trails
A wide variety of short and longer walks are available. The hard-surfaced circular path around the reedbed (2 km) and the paths to all the hides are suitable for wheelchairs. The reserve is also surrounded by a network of public footpaths, these are mainly along grassy sea banks, which can become muddy during wet weather. They provide fantastic views of the saltmarsh, and the wildlife that requires this natural wilderness to survive.
A walk of 3 km leads out to the mouth of the River Witham, this can be rewarding as it extends out into The Wash. A wheelchair accessible viewpoint has been created on top of the sea bank overlooking the saltmarsh, but wheelchair access along the sea banks will be difficult.
