We arrived at 3.30 pm; as we walked further along the path towards the viewpoint, the sky got darker and darker. It poured with rain and we got soaked, but we were determined to carry on, past the first stone-built hut and up to the viewpoint, which was deserted.
Ten minutes after we arrived, the golden eagle appeared against the grey skies; it hovered around for a while and then soared away into the landscape. Majestic. It was absolutely amazing and made it worth all the effort to get there. One of those unforgettable moments. A truly humbling experience.
