The hike from the car park is well worth it. Plenty to see on the way to the viewpoint, splendid views of Haweswater. Not seen the golden eagle yet. More reasons to go back.

Martin Birchall

The landlord of the B&B we stayed in told us that there was a golden eagle by Haweswater. We were due to go back to Surrey but we thought we'd go via Haweswater. It was a treat! The eagle showed us how magnificent he looks in flight. Then he decided to sun himself and landed on a ledge on the cliff-side and spread his wings. Time just flew by looking at the eagle and chatting with the warden (who knew this site very well). After about 3 hours we had to leave, it was a pity, we could have stayed there all day. We will come back!
