Insh Marshes |
Insh Marshes National Nature Reserve is one of the most important wetlands in Europe. Enjoy a springtime stroll and look out for nesting lapwings, redshanks and curlews, or visit in the wintertime when the marsh floods. Please noteThe existing main Information Viewpoint hide is being replaced, starting with demolishing the old one on 9 November. The new replacement hide should be open in late January. The reserve and other hides will continue to be open to visitors during this period, although some footpaths may be temporarily diverted. The project is being funded by: Scottish Natural Heritage, Gillman Trust, Cairngorms National Park Authority and Cairngorms LEADER. Opening timesOpen at all times. Entrance chargesFree, but donations to help us continue our work here are welcome. Photo Competition: Spirit of the MarshesDuring 2009, we're running a competition to see who can best capture the spirit of the reserve. Insh Marshes is an amazing place - an eight-mile long sponge stuffed with rare and special wildlife. There's a prize of a bottle of Speyside malt whisky for the best photo taken by someone over the age of 18, plus prizes for the 12-18 year old category and for under-twelves. Please include your name and address, along with a few words about your photo and send to: Karen Sutcliffe, Site Manager, RSPB, Ivy Cottage, Insh, Kingussie PH21 1NT or by email to: spiritofthemarshes@rspb.org.uk.
