How to get hereSustrans cycle routeThe best links are along the byway (used by the Hereward Way) from Brandon and via lanes and byways from Hockwold, although a short stretch of the B1112 has to be used to cross the river. Nearest railway stationAt weekends a number of trains on the Norwich-Ely-Cambridge service call at Lakenheath. On Sundays and public holidays, there are three trains a day, and on Saturdays there is one train in each direction (allowing a day trip from Norwich). A new footpath links the visitor centre with Station Road north of the railway station. Nearest bus stopNo scheduled buses serve the reserve, but the on-demand Brecks Bus is available Monday-Friday and can be used to reach the reserve from Brandon and Thetford. For directions to the reserve by car, visit Google Maps and enter your postcode in the box provided. By roadFrom Lakenheath village, travel north on B1112 for about 2 miles (3.2 km). Go over the level crossing and after 200 m, turn left into reserve entrance. Other ways to get to the reserveA new footpath links the visitor centre with Station Road north of the railway station. The Hereward Way long-distance footpath runs alongside the reserve, along Station Road and past the railway station. It provides a good link into Brandon (4.7 miles/7.5 km). |
