Top things to do in Spring

  1. Listen to the cacophony of reedbed noises with warblers, cuckoos, water rails and reed buntings
  2. Witness the ever-changing restoration as new reeds and wildflowers spread across changing landscapes
  3. Watch marsh harriers quarter the reedbed in the day whilst barn owls take over as the evening draws in

Top things to do in Summer

  1. See the breeding little ringed plovers and avocets chase each other across the watery habitat
  2. With over 20 species of butterflies, stroll amongst the bountiful painted ladies and brimstones along flower-rich grassy paths
  3. Enjoy the warm late summer evenings with panoramic sunsets across the golden reedbed

Top things to do in Autumn

  1. Dragonflies will be emerging en mass from the wetland landscape with numerous hobbies darting back and forth in hot pursuit
  2. Fox cubs and roe deer fawns will be finding their feet in the grassland scrub
  3. Passage waders begin to drop in, with godwits, redshanks, sandpipers and dunlins all topping up on vital food

Top things to do in Winter

  1. Stroll through the small woodland copse and along winding hedgerow paths as flocks of redwings and fieldfares gorge on berries
  2. Bitterns begin to arrive, giving precious glimpses as they float over the reeds and into secretive pools
  3. Can you find five different owls? Long-eared owls roost, short-eared owls winter here, tawny owls lurk in the woods, little owls skulk in the hedgerows, and the young barn owls quarte the reedbed
