AccessibilityAccess to trailsSpecial needs visitors may drive to the hide 500 m from visitor centre; help may be needed to open the field gate at the start of the track. A phone is available in the visitor centre for you to contact a member of staff. Access to the viewpoint track is 30 m from the secondary car park; the 20 m path to the viewpoint is accessible to wheelchair users. The path, which continues 300 m down the hill to the hide, is steep in parts and may prove challenging for semi-ambulant visitors. The 0.9 mile-long woodland trail (1.5 km) is not suitable for wheelchair use and again may prove challenging for the semi-ambulant visitor. Hides and viewpointsThe hide is accessed via a 9 m, 1:13 ramp with a handrail; there are two adapted places, but help may be needed to move a bench. The viewpoint, overlooking the flooded fields, is a concrete pad with handrails. ToiletsA unisex, adapted toilet next to the visitor centre, however, the layout may prove difficult for some wheelchair users. The nearest fully-adapted toilet is at the Medical Centre in Port Charlotte, 10 miles (16 km) away. |
