  • Car park : The visitor centre car park in the farmyard is surfaced with rolled stone; there are no level parking places. There is a second car park opposite the viewpoint and hide, 360 m from visitor centre; it is level and surfaced with rolled stone. There are views of the nature reserve from the passing places along the single-track road, which runs next to parts of the reserve. No height restricitions. Three bike racks at visitor centre.

Viewing points

One hide. Special needs visitors may drive to the hide 500 m from visitor centre. The hide is accessed via a 9 m, 1:13 ramp with a handrail; there are two adapted places, but help may be needed to move a bench. A viewing platform overlooking the flooded fields is a concrete pad with handrails. There is also a viewing area within the visitor centre (with telescopes).

Nature trails

Access to the viewpoint track is 30 m from the secondary car park; the 20 m path to the viewpoint is accessible to wheelchair users. The path, which continues 300 m down the hill to the hide, is steep in parts and may prove challenging for semi-ambulant visitors. The woodland trail (1.5 km) is not suitable for wheelchair use and again may prove challenging for the semi-ambulant visitor.

Educational facilities

Limited facilities, though school and youth groups are very welcome and we will attempt to satisfy all requests. All ages catered for. Curriculum links possible. For more information, please contact the reserve.
