About Loch of Spiggie

Snipe 'drumming' (display flight)

Image: Kevin Du Rose

A visit to the Loch of Spiggie shows you just what a wonderful variety of birds and wildlife rely on Scottish lochs for their survival. This large shallow loch attracts large numbers of swans, ducks and geese during autumn and winter, including whooper swans, wigeons and teals. If you visit in summer, you'll see Arctic terns and great skuas bathing in the water.

Opening times

The loch can be viewed from the road all year-round.

Entrance charges

Free, but donations to help us continue our work here are welcome.
