Boy holding great green bush cricket, RSPB Marazion Marsh

Get your class closer to the wonders hidden in this beautiful wetland landscape

Overlooking the beautiful St Michael's Mount, Marazion Marsh has a view you won't find in any normal classroom. And with a beach to explore as well, this is the ideal place for children to discover more about the coast.

The reserve is carefully managed for its wetland ecosystem. Each season brings a different experience, which your pupils can focus on.

In spring, the air is filled with song as birds compete to establish territories and attract a mate. In summer, wildflowers and butterflies are abundant, while autumn brings large movements of migrating birds and winter sees large flocks of birds gathering together to feed.

When can we visit?

You can visit all year round. Each season offers something different for your pupils to discover. You can spend a period of two hours, either in the morning or afternoon. Morning bookings usually start at 10am and afternoon bookings at 1pm, but no later than 2pm.

What we offer

We offer a facilitated visit for up to 18 pupils at a time.

There are no toilets or hand washing facilities on the reserve but there are in the near-by car parks.

What should we bring?

We provide all materials including binoculars and identification sheets.

All children need to bring suitable clothing for an outdoor field trip. Depending on the weather, each pupil should have a warm coat, hat and gloves, sun hat and sun screen and strong shoes or Wellington boots.

Costs

Free (this scheme is funded by Natural England).
