Our star species are some of the most interesting birds you may see on your visit to the reserve.
Cetti's warblers are recent colonists of the UK. They are very often hard to see, but their 'explosive' song is unmistakable, once learned.
Most British chiffchaffs migrate to southern Europe or Africa for winter, but some birds stay in the mild south-west of England.
Normally, grey herons build nests from sticks high up in trees, but the Marazion birds prefer to build theirs in the reedbed, Cornwall's largest.
These dainty little white herons can be seen throughout the year at Marazion Marsh. You can see them fishing in the channels, stirring up fish fry from the muddy bottom with their feet.
The Marazion starling roost in late autumn/winter is a must-see but unfortunately not always predictable; some years the birds move elsewhere.
