How to get hereSustrans cycle routeNational Cycle route 1 links with regional route 42 (Suffolk Coast Cycle route). Nearest railway stationDarsham (5 miles) on East Suffolk line from Ipswich to Lowestoft. Then use Coastlink - see below. If walking/cycling, follow A12 north, then turn right to Westleton and follow signs from there. Check connections on National Rail Enquiries website, or phone 08457 484950. Nearest bus stopNearest scheduled buses Leiston (4 miles). Demand-responsive Coastlink will meet buses and trains. Must be booked by 12 noon the day before travel. Contact Coastlink, tel: 01728 833526. If walking from Leiston, follow B1122 past Leiston Abbey, turn right to Eastbridge, and continue along tarmac road to reserve. By roadFollow brown tourist signs from A12 at Yoxford (if coming from south) or Blythburgh (from north) to Westleton. From Westleton, take Dunwich road, then take first right, following brown tourist signs. Turn left at crossroads, then follow reserve entrance track, with speed bumps (20 mph limit). Turn left at Scotts Hall and car park is a further 1 km (half a mile). Other ways to get to the reserveAccess on foot along the beach from Dunwich Heath National Trust car park or from Sizewell Beach, or via public footpaths from Eastbridge to Minsmere Sluice, then follow nature trails to visitor centre. |
