Nene Washes |
The Nene Washes, in the Cambridgeshire Fens, are part of a remarkable landscape. The washes store surplus water from the River Nene and are regularly flooded, particularly in winter when the open water attracts huge numbers of birds. In spring and summer, the meadows are alive with the sounds of breeding wading birds, while dragonflies buzz up and down the dykes. Opening timesAccess at all times along the Nene Way footpath on the bank at Eldernell. Entrance chargesFree, but donations to help us continue our work here are appreciated. |
