Otmoor |
Otmoor is a magical nature reserve of wet meadows and reedbeds. It is a haven in winter for thousands of ducks, such as teals and wigeons, and in spring and summer for breeding wading birds, such as lapwings and redshanks. Please noteSome public footpaths are closed when the adjacent rifle range is active. The range may be active any day except Mondays and Thursdays. Otmoor Lane, the only public road leading to the reserve car park will be closed to vehicles during January to April. Pedestrian access will be permitted along the lane, but it is a one-mile walk to the reserve entrance from Beckley and parking in the village is limited. We have been informed the lane will be closed from: Monday 14 January 2008 – Monday 21 April 2008, Monday to Friday between 8.30 am to 4.30 pm, Saturday 8.30 am - 1 pm. If visitors are keen to access the reserve during the closed periods, public footpaths and bridleways around the reserve will remain open. However, parking may be difficult in some places. Opening timesOpen daily, dawn to dusk. Entrance chargesNone, but donations to help us continue our work here are welcomed. |
