When the barn owls have young to feed, you could see them at any time of day as they scour the grassland for small voles and shrews to take back to their nest. |  |

Great crested grebes are renowned for their dramatic courtship displays, where the pair 'dances' together. Later in the year, watch for parent grebes carrying their stripy young on their backs! |  |
Stay alert for the sight of an electric-blue bullet speeding past. Kingfishers are a year-round attraction at Rockland. In spring and summer, watch out for adults carrying fish back to their nests in their beaks. |  |
Mute swans are resident at Rockland Marshes. In spring and summer, watch for the small, grey cygnets being attended to by their protective parents. |  |
