Accessibility

The trails are accessible, however, the trail areas furthest from the Centre may cause difficulties as they are on a slight incline. Throughout the reserve footpaths have been constructed from crushed stone. This provides a relatively even and firm surface but please note that these are not tarmac surfaces.

The Wildlife Watch Point is a five-minute walk from the Centre. The Paddy's Pool Hide is a 10-minute walk from the Centre and Saltholme Pools Hide is a 20-minute walk from the Centre. Please note that currently there is no facility for seating immediately adjacent to the path to Saltholme Pools Hide and also that there is a 100 metre stretch of path that is rather stony. Each of the buildings is accessible by wheelchair, but those further away from the Centre (Paddy's Pool Hide and Saltholme Pools hide) may not be suitable for wheelchair users without assistance. There are a small number of picnic tables, each of which is accessible by wheelchair.

We have two mobility scooters available for hire. To pre-book please call the centre on 01642 546625.

Access to Centre

Access to the Centre is on level ground from the disabled car parking. From the standard car parking area there is a slight incline (the furthest car parking spaces being approx 100 m away). The Centre is accessed through a double door; the reception area has information about the reserve. Chairs are available in the reception area.

Access to the shop is from the reception area and it is an open plan area with no doors. The café is on the first floor and can be accessed via stairs or the lift that is in the foyer. All tables are fully accessible as is the balcony area, which is accessed via double doors.

Car parking

The car park is accessed via a tarmaced road that you enter from the A178 Seaton Carew Road. The car parks are surfaced in bound gravel; there is also a coach park. Close to the Centre there is a separate parking area for blue badge holders.

Toilets

There are two fully accessible unisex toilets, one on each floor. The first floor toilet is accessible via the lift (in the foyer). There are a further four ladies' and four men's toilets on the ground floor.
