Viewing points
The viewing screens have slots at various heights. The Lakeside hide is 415 m from the upper car park and is staffed by knowledgeable volunteers. The path has a gradient mostly less than 1:20, and there are a number of benches along the way. The Marsh screen is 300 m from the upper car park and is reached on a rolled stone path which slopes gently down towards the reedbed.
Nature trails
The footpaths are pushchair and wheelchair-accessible (with assistance). There are some inclines and the ground can be muddy off the footpaths. There is no circular walk within the reserve but visitors may wish to walk around Forge Mill Lake (approximately 1.25 miles/45-60 minutes walk), which takes them into the adjoining reserve managed by Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council. Footpaths off the reserve can be very muddy.
