Bittern walking on edge of reedbed

Sutton Fen forms a continuous and extensive area of nationally rare and internationally important fen habitat, including large areas of national scarce saw sedge beds.

Breeding bitterns, marsh harriers, Cetti's warblers, reed buntings and bearded tits are found on the site. The site is exceptionally important for its rare plants and diversity of invertebrates present such as swallowtail butterflies and Norfolk hawker dragonflies.
