Nature trails
The Lodge reserve now has 5 miles of nature trails through attractive heath, acid grassland, and woodland. The trails around the old heath and The Lodge quarry have steps, and are not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs due to the uneven ground.
The trail that runs to the iron age hillfort on Galley Hill is now circular, but there are steep sections if you want to cut back to The Lodge quarry, or complete the circuit back to the shop and car park.
The Sandy Ridge trail passes through woodland and grassland not previously open to the public, and has one steep section without steps. Other short trails visit the meadow hide and gardens and are suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs, although there are some uneven sections.
