At The Lodge reserve, where the RSPB has its headquarters, there are invigorating walks to be enjoyed all year round, as well as shorter, pushchair-friendly trails. We are extending the area of heathland for birds such as tree pipits, and aim to attract breeding woodlarks, nightjars and Dartford warblers. Trails start from the Gatehouse, where our shop is open seven days a week.

Please note

The wildlife garden, designed with help from the Henry Doubleday Research Institute, was re-planted in early 2008, and is once again open to visitors.

Opening times

The reserve is open from 9 am-9 pm (or sunset when earlier). The shop is open from 9 am-5 pm on weekdays and 10 am-5 pm at weekends and Bank Holidays.

Entrance charges

Non-members £2.50 per motor vehicle, members free. Please obtain a ticket in the shop and display it in your vehicle. Shoppers (up to 30 minutes) free.
