Cycling at Top Lodge

Red kite in flight

Ride through the sights and sounds of an ancient English woodland. Deer run through sun-dappled glades, whilst woodpeckers drum out a steady rhythm and dragonflies zoom past your head.

The Top Lodge centre in Fineshade Wood is an ideal place for an afternoon's ride, situated between Peterborough and Leicester and near the junction of the A43 and A47. The site has a five mile (8 km) cycle trail, winding through the wood on surfaced paths and is ideal for all the family.

The trail also includes optional skills loops (at blue level) for mountain bikers. An on-site bike shop offers bike hire, sales, and repairs.

The wood is home to many different plants and animals. Squirrels play in the treetops whilst orchids grow alongside the path. Keep your eyes open for the spectacular red kites that wheel across the sky. Over 90 species of bird have been seen in the wood - how many can you see?

There are toilets and a children's play area on site. Why not pay us a visit?
