About Vane Farm

New Year, New Vane. Your visitor centre is getting better! Over the next couple of months, we will be improving the visitor centre to make the shop and cafe brighter & better. Don’t worry though, we’ll be staying open throughout, and you’ll still be able to get a cuppa, a slice of cake and your bird food. Please see the blog for the latest information.

RSPB Vane Farm reserve, The Mire - peat bog restoration

Part of the Loch Leven National Nature Reserve, Vane Farm is an ideal day out for all the family. If you're new to birdwatching, visit our viewing hides for close-up views of wildlife. If you prefer something more energetic, follow the steep trail to the top of Vane Hill and enjoy the spectacular vista – you may even see great spotted woodpeckers.

In the summer, you could see ospreys on the loch, and in the winter, thousands of pink-footed geese, swans and ducks make the reserve their home. Our café serves delicious hot and cold food all year round.

Opening times

Vane Farm Loch Leven visitor centre is open 10 am-5 pm daily, and the trails and hides are open 24 hours a day throughout the year (except Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year's Day and 2 January). The cafe stops serving hot food at 3 pm and closes at 4 pm.
