RSPB Ynys-hir reserve - sheep grazing, River Dovey in background

ParkingToiletsPicnic tables

Ynys-hir mixes Welsh oak woodland with wet grassland and saltmarshes. In the spring, the ground is carpeted in flowers and birdsong fills the air. Summer brings waders, such as lapwings and redshanks, and some very special butterflies too. Then in the colder months, ducks and geese move in.

Opening times

The reserve is open from 9 am-9 pm, or dusk if earlier. The visitor centre is open daily 9 am-5 pm from April to October and 10 am-4 pm from November to March (closed Mondays and Tuesdays).

Entrance charges

There is a car parking fee of £2 for non-members (free for members). The car park fee includes admission to the reserve.
