Buzzard in flight

Call on ministers to think again about Defra's trial in England to reduce buzzard predation

Defra wants to spend close to £400,000 of taxpayers' money on a trial in England to reduce buzzard predation of pheasant poults by, amongst other things, shooting out buzzard nests and permanently imprisoning adults. We believe this approach is fundamentally flawed - please step up and write to your MP and ask them to pass on your concerns to Mr Benyon.

Save nature in the Thames Estuary

The Thames Estuary is globally recognised, and protected, because of it's vital coastal wetland for thousands of wildfowl and wading birds. The idea of an airport in the Thames Estuary has been catapulted back to prominence by the Mayor of London. However, any airport would cause immense damage to the wildlife and environment.

Help safeguard Welsh sea life!

The Welsh Government is consulting on a proposal to establish ‘Highly Protected Marine Conservation Zones’. If located in the right place these will have the potential to offer our marine environment the space it needs to recover.

Let the Welsh Government know how important all of the marine environment is to you.

Urge your MEP to step up for wildlife!

The funding that supports environmentally friendly farming across the EU is under threat. If proposed reductions go ahead farmers in the UK will find it more difficult to farm in ways that benefit wildlife. As 70% of the UK's land is farmed, any such change could have serious consequences.

Support our call for effective environmental management in Wales

Sustaining a Living Wales, a Green Paper published by the Welsh Government, sets out a new approach to managing the environment and natural resources. We're concerned it focuses disproportionally on managing how natural resources are used and the impacts of human activities. Please email the Welsh Government to make sure they give nature conservation the priority it deserves.

Ringtail hen harrier in flight

Help stop raptor persecution

Despite decades of full legal protection, many birds of prey continue to suffer from persecution. Vicarious liability would help by targeting the minority of landowners ultimately responsible for driving the persecution. This law has been passed in Scotland, but not in the rest of the UK. Birds like the hen harrier need this law if they are to be saved.
