Update

Thanks to your fantastic support, we are delighted to announce the purchase of Labrador Bay - 53 hectares of beautiful, rolling, farmland on the South Devon coast.

A huge and heartfelt 'thank you' to you all for what you have helped achieve – our first ever reserve for cirl buntings. Find out more

We have an exciting opportunity to buy a piece of South Devon coastal land - Labrador Bay - and create a nationally unique nature reserve for cirl buntings, a bird whose population has suffered a severe decline in the UK.

Cirl buntings, also known as village buntings, were once widespread throughout southern England. However, by the late 1980s their numbers had declined to such an extent that today cirl buntings are largely restricted to Devon.

In our hands, Labrador Bay will provide vital habitat for cirl buntings, protect an area of natural beauty, and become a place for people to enjoy a great day out.

What do we hope to achieve?

With your help, Labrador Bay can become the perfect environment for cirl buntings to find a home and thrive, as well as a welcoming place for visitors.

We will be conserving and enhancing the stunning landscape and rich habitats of Labrador Bay to increase insect numbers, and provide more foraging areas for birds and bats.

So that the wildlife and landscape spectacle of Labrador Bay can be enjoyed by all, we aim to upgrade visitor facilities, and develop a programme of walks, talks, and volunteering opportunities.

Your gift today can help us safeguard the future for one of the nation's most threatened birds - the cirl bunting
