Thanks to a £600,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), we're offering 27 traineeships for anyone who wants a career in nature conservation.
The hands-on training placements across the UK are part of our four-year Nature Counts project. They will fill recognised skills gaps in species identification and helping people to enjoy nature.
We'll be advertising the next Ecology and Visitor Service trainee placements in the vacancies section of our website towards the end of December 2012 - see the link on the right. Applications for these placements close around the end of January 2013.
What do the placements involve?
Trainees will undertake either a nine or 18-month placement, which will result in better protection and understanding of threatened wildlife.
The placements will offer training in either ecology or helping people enjoy nature. Every placement will combine hands-on practical experience and mentoring from experienced professionals with formal specialist training courses.
As well as providing skills in a specialist area, training will cover essential skills such as presenting a CV, managing projects and putting budgets together.
I want to apply but I missed the deadline.
If you missed this round, you'll have a final opportunity to apply again, in January 2014 for the six remaining Ecology placements.
You can also boost your CV or develop skills for a career in conservation by volunteering for us - see the link on the right of this page.
Read the blog posts to find out what it's like to join us on one of these traineeships.
