Print pageWest Midlands Local Group Leaders, Sutton Coldfield and Wolverhampton
Midlands Regional Office
Why we want you
Our local groups play a vital role supporting the work of the RSPB locally through fundraising, events, education and much more, as well as providing a focal point for interested people to meet. We are looking for leaders for our established Sutton Coldfield and Wolverhampton Local Groups, who will act as a conduit between the group and the RSPB, supported both by the Midlands Volunteering Development Officer and the local group committee.
What’s in it for you?
This is your chance to increase awareness about the RSPB and the importance of conservation in your local area. This work can be very enjoyable and you will have the chance to work alongside like-minded and enthusiastic RSPB members and spark an interest in new people to the group as well as to the wider public through events.
The RSPB is an active and exciting conservation charity, the largest in Europe! We can help you gain skills and give you a valuable insight into our work.
The skills you need
You need to be able to inspire and lead the committee - good communication skills are vital, as well as good delegation skills and diplomacy. Obviously enthusiasm for the RSPB and what we are trying to achieve is vital. You will need to be comfortable with speaking in public as you will lead indoor meetings. For the Wolverhampton Group Leader, there will be opportunity to organise outdoor trips, so good organisational skills and knowledge of great places to see wildlife would be beneficial.

Minimum commitment: 10-12 hours a month and an initial 2 day training course
Duration: Maximum 5 year term of office
