Volunteer to get fit
Why not make a commitment to conservation and a healthier lifestyle? Getting into the countryside is recognised as a natural way to a healthier lifestyle. A recent report commissioned by the RSPB stresses that moderate exercise, including walking and nature conservation activities can help to prevent heart disease, strokes, depression and sleep problems. The RSPB has over 14,000 people who already volunteer with the Society. You can help to protect some of the UK’s most important wildlife areas by becoming an RSPB volunteer, so future generations can see spectacular birds and wildlife in the future. Whether you want to work indoors or out...we can find something to suit you anywhere in the UK Alan Murray, Head of the RSPB’s Volunteering Unit said: ‘You can help to plant hedges and create reed beds on our reserves, or work with our wardens, learning the skills and techniques necessary to manage successful nature reserves. ‘Whether you want to work indoors or out, or you want to give one hour of your time or 100, we can find something to suit you anywhere in the UK. There are so many ways to volunteer with the RSPB.’ The RSPB has volunteering opportunities on over 100 reserves around the UK, for all ages and at any time of the year. So why not give it a go? You’ll be making yourself healthier as well as helping wildlife. Last modified: 17 August 2006 |
