Public Event Assistant - Chichester Peregrine Falcons

Chichester Cathedral

Why we want you

You will be supporting the RSPB's Date with Nature Project at Chichester Cathedral. This project has been running for around a decade, enabling visitors to enjoy viewing the City's famous nesting Peregrine falcons. It is one of the RSPB' most successful projects in terms of inspiring the public about wildlife conservation. It also offers us an excellent platform to gather support for the RSPB through recruiting new RSPB members.

Tasks will include:
- Helping visitors to use the telescopes
- Talking to visitors about the birds they're looking at.
- Chatting to visitors about the work of the RSPB then encouraging them to head over to chat with our Events Team, who will ask them to support us by becoming RSPB members.
- Helping to set up displays, tables, banners and equipment

What’s in it for you?

A fantastic opportunity to spend time watching and discussing these amazing birds with others - our famous Peregrines! A great chance too to work as part of a small and friendly team of staff and other volunteers. We can help you to gain valuable skills, experience and an insight into the work that we do. Through this role you'll be making a huge difference to the RSPB's vital conservation work.

The skills you need

Are you a 'people person', and have a great ability to enthuse and inspire others? Then we'd love to hear from you! We're looking for volunteers who are:

-Approachable and friendly
-Have a genuine interest in birds, wildlife and nature conservation
-Have the ability to inform people about the RSPB's Chichester Peregrine project and the work of the RSPB in a chatty and inspiring way

Please note, you DON'T have to be an expert on birds or the RSPB! The above skills are much more important - we'll give you all the information you need to know about our Chichester Peregrine project, how to use a telescope and anything else you need to know beforehand.

Your time

Minimum commitment: 2 or more days per month
