About residential volunteering on a reserve
Want to gain practical experience to back up your studies? Or maybe just want to get away from it all, and do something worthwhile to help conservation? You can spend a week or more living and working on a reserve as a volunteer warden. We have 39 reserves around the UK, with accommodation provided onsite or nearby. The tasks are wide-ranging and can include:
Work varies from season to season and from reserve to reserve, but there is something suitable for volunteers of all ages (you have to be over 16). 'The wardens were very welcoming and included me in all activities and ensured that the tasks were interesting and informative.' Bookings are made by the week, Saturday to Saturday. Long-term placements (by arrangement) are ideal for people planning a career in conservation. ‘My stay at the Haweswater reserve far exceeded my expectations. The wardens were very welcoming and included me in all activities and ensured that the tasks were interesting and informative. I really enjoyed my stay and learnt a lot about the golden eagles and other wildlife on the reserve and in the local area.’ Last modified: 07 December 2009 |
