The Nature of Scotland Awards are designed to recognise and celebrate excellence, innovation and outstanding achievement in Scottish nature conservation.

Scotland is renowned worldwide for its beautiful wild places and abundant wildlife. We must work hard to preserve this precious natural heritage, celebrating success stories and protecting that which is under real threat.

We are delighted to be hosting the third year of the Awards, which recognise the very best efforts made for the benefit of nature conservation in Scotland. The challenges involved in protecting and nurturing Scotland’s special places and iconic species are ever more pressing

The 2014 Nature of Scotland Awards are now closed for nominations, and the judging panel has had a tough job in choosing the finalists.

The shortlist for this year’s Awards was announced on 12 August at the Scottish Parliament, at an evening reception hosted by Claire Baker MSP and sponsored by The Crown Estate. To see which projects made it to the next stage, click on 2014 shortlist above. Congratulations to the finalists, and thank you to everyone who entered.

The winners will be announced at the award ceremony at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Edinburgh, on 20 November 2014. Over 300 guests are expected to attend the presentation dinner, hosted by naturalist, author and TV presenter Chris Packham. To book your place at the event, download a booking form on The ceremony page.

On the Past winners page, you can find out who our winners and finalists were in 2013 and follow links to some of their inspirational stories featured on BBC Two’s Landward series.
