Celebrating with Girlguiding Cymru

To help us celebrate our centenary, we have partnered up with Girlguiding Cymru. Guides across Wales will be taking part in special centenary projects throughout the year.

These projects will give Girl Guides the chance to get outdoors, have fun with nature and get experience of conservation work.

The three projects are:

  • Operation Tawny Owl - all members of Girlguiding Cymru will enjoy a day at a Welsh RSPB nature reserve, Field Centre or Date with Nature site. Here they can take part in a range of activities and experience the wildlife our reserves have to offer.
  • Operation Snowy Owl – older Guides will be helping RSPB Cymru staff and volunteers to monitor farmland birds across Wales. Younger Guides will help to survey Welsh birds by taking part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch, and Make Your Nature Count - a survey of summer wildlife.
  • Operation Barn Owl – each Guide group will be raising money for RSPB Cymru, funding and placing nestboxes and birdfeeders across Wales to give Welsh birds a boost.

Find out how these projects are going on the 'We love Wales' community page.
