Young magpies
The RSPB does not recommend hand-rearing young magpies. They become very tame and, when released back into the wild, they often seek human company. Some people, especially children and the elderly, maybe seriously frightened by a magpie suddenly landing on their head or shoulder. Trying to drive off the bird will cause it to grab, so the person believes that the bird is attacking.
