What goes into a nature notebook?

Stubborn worm

In your notebook, write down what you see. It’s great to include drawings, paintings, poems and even to stick in bits and pieces that you find when you are out and about.

In your notes, write down what it was doing, exactly where it was, and just as importantly what you feel about it.

Here are a few things that every entry to your notebook should have:

Date, including the year
Place
Time of day
Weather
Where you were
What wildlife you saw and how many of it.

The more entries you make, the better record you will have. Don’t worry about not being able to draw very well. Notebooks are about what you see and feel, not how well you can put it down on paper.
