A special rainforest
Imagine walking through a huge green cathedral made entirely of trees. Their trunks tower up into a roof of leaves, so high that you can hardly see the top. Bird song trickles down from above and a crashing of branches tells you monkeys are about. You peer up through the tangle of greenery, hoping to catch a glimpse. You’re in a tropical rainforest, the greatest natural treasure trove on earth. Sadly rainforests are disappearing fast. People are cutting down the trees to sell for timber, and clearing the land for farming. The RSPB has been given a chance to help local people in Sumatra look after part of their rainforest and all the wonderful animals and plants that live there. One way to do this is to raise money to plant new trees for the sake of the wildlife that lives there. You can helpThis is where you can help! We want to plant more trees. Will you help us raise the money to save this very special place? We've called the rainforest Harapan rainforest. Harapan means hope. With your help, we can turn the hope into reality. |
