Finding out what's there

Four children using binoculars on heather

Knowing what wildlife lives where, and how many there are, is very important.

Without this knowledge it’s difficult to know which species are rare or declining and might need our help.

The activities in this category are all about discovering, identifying and counting wildlife – essential skills for any naturalist.

There are eight activities for you to choose from. Each one will help you to discover more about your local wildlife.

You can see one of the activities using the download on this page. This is an example so you can see the type of task you might choose to do.
