Spot Snap

Illustration of ladybird

This is the trickiest game of snap you'll ever play. So tricky, that you'll see spots in front of your eyes. Lots and lots of spots!

There are more than 40 different kinds of ladybird in the UK. Some have two spots, some have 7, 10, 14, or even 22. Some don't wear spots at all, but have stripes or streaks.

To make your cards, download our file from the side of this page. You can print it out, stick it onto card, and then cut out the card shapes.

Have fun!

The rules

The aim is to win all of the cards!

Getting started

One of the players shuffles the cards and deals them out equally between everyone. Each player puts their cards face down in a stack in front of them.

Let's play!

  • The person sitting to the left of the dealer goes first, then the person to their left.
  • The players take turns to take the top card from their stack and put it face-up in a new stack (then you each have two stacks: one with cards face-down, and one with cards face-up).
  • All the players watch carefully... when one card matches another, it's a race to be first to shout 'SNAP!'
  • The person who shouts first wins all the cards from the face-up stacks that match each other. They put the cards they won under their face-down stack.
  • Carry on until someone has won all the cards.
