collared dove - A- Collared doves are very common garden birds now, but did you know they first nested in the UK in 1955?
- They weren’t brought here by humans – they spread across Europe from western Asia, all on their own.
- In Germany, collared doves are known as ‘television doves’ – because they are always calling from TV aerials!
- All that calling is possibly related to the fact that they can breed at any time of year, even in the middle of winter!
