• Adult male greenfinches are actually the most green. Young birds look rather dull and brownish, but they still have yellow in their wings.
• In spring, watch out for male greenfinches doing a special fluttering ‘butterfly’ display flight to impress females.
• Some greenfinches fly across the North Sea to the UK for the winter to escape the cold weather in northern Europe.
